How to Auto Shutdown your PC

Certain processes like copying  downloading, archiving, video conversion and software installation requires more time than the user might have as a result the operation needs to be closed or the user needs to wait till process gets over.If you are avid computer user than you might have encountered this issue several times. In this article you will learn how to auto shutdown your computer by following a very simple process.

Just follow this procedure




  • Right click on Desktop

  • Select New > Text Document

  • Type shutdown -s -t 1500  or copy it from here and paste it on that file

  • Save the file at desktop location with the name shtdown.bat (.bat extension for batch file)

Double click on this file would activate auto shutdown process which would shutdown windows after 1500 sec i.e. after 25 min. The value "1500" can be changed to any value you want. Suppose you want to shutdown your computer after 10 minutes which is equal to 600 seconds then

  • Right click on shutdown.bat and select edit

  • Change the value from 1500 to 600 and save the file again

Now double clicking this will activate auto shutdown timer to 10 minutes. Similarly you can edit this file to match your specific timer. Every time you run this file your computer will notify you of this action via system tray.
